I wrote this for my nephew in 2005 based on pictures that my brother had taken of him the previous Christmas. The pictures told such a story, I just couldn’t resist! Enjoy! (Now my challenge is to come up with something just as cute for the boys!)
Once upon a time in a far away land, a little boy woke up Christmas morning much earlier than his parents had planned.
With a smile on his face and joy in his heart, he quickly began tearing his presents apart!
There were boxes full of Christmas toys with special stuff for little boys.
He couldn't believe his sleepy eyes, for each box held an even better surprise.
He played with stuff both large and small, while his daddy took pictures of each moment all.
Buttons, bells, and Sponge Bob too, it was almost too much for one boy to do.
He played with each toy every one, but it wasn't long before the fun was done.
His daddy, being oh-so-clever, planned a special caper using the leftover Christmas paper.
Daddy put him on the paper down on the ground and quickly pulled him all around.
The boy smiled and giggled and laughed some more, as through the air he pretended to soar.
His silly daddy even took the paper and used it to see what the boy might look like dressed as a Christmas tree!
Then all of the sudden what did appear, the little boy and his dad donned in super hero gear!
For Christmas was in danger of being over too fast; it was up to Captain Christmas to make the fun last!
Captain Christmas flew all around the living room keeping away any Christmas doom.
He flew from here, he flew to there spreading loads of Christmas cheer.
The Captain and his dad were both handsome and silly and goofy and strong, surely saving Christmas would not take too long.
Their smiles full of teeth so shiny and white were making sure Christmas was happy and bright.
Saving Christmas was hard work and lots of fun; it seemed quite clear Captain Christmas' work was done.
He had worked really hard and done his best, but it was now time for the Captain to take a rest.
He declared with delight when his work was done, "My daddy sure is lots of fun!"
"We saved Christmas, we saved the day, we had fun and found time to play. The presents are open our work here is through, now there is only one thing left for us to do. We'll get dressed and put on our clothes, and down the street to Nana and Papa’s house we'll go. There are more presents to open more fun to be had, I cant wait to tell them all the adventures we've had. I know they have presents to open up too, we need to hurry because there’s lots left to do. Aunt Roo Roo, Uncle Pig, Uncle Darren and Aunt Dee, I know they all can’t wait to see me. I cant wait to see them because I love them I do, they are the best family a super hero could have, and that's true."
So with his work all done he was dressed and ready to go; the only thing that could have made the day better was a little bit of snow!
For Christmas had come, Christmas was here, and the boy was sure the best Christmas would be this year!
About Me
- Everyday adventures...
- Welcome to the world of twin preschoolers. Every day is an adventure! This blog is a way for me to share a little of what life is like with twin boys. The adventure never ends. On most days, they make me wonder what would happen if “babies drooled the world”! One thing I know for sure is they would win most of the battles! In an ideal world, I’d love to write children’s books. The title of this blog is obviously a play on words (If babies ruled the world). It came to me one day when I was wiping a drool covered face for probably the 100th time. I think it would be a fun title for a book. Maybe one day the boys’ adventures will inspire me to finally write that book. Until then, I’ll have fun wondering what truly would happen if babies drooled the world!

Look Mom~It’s Magic!
Our diaper pail is a Diaper Champ. For those who don’t know what Diaper Champ looks like, it’s basically a plastic trash can with a round circle on top with a handle on one side. You put the diaper in, flip the lid, and a round tube in the top slides and pushes the diaper in. You just keep flipping the lid back and forth when you put the diapers in. This way, you put the diapers in without ever having to open the lid. Lately, the boys have learned to put their wet pull ups in the Champ. I like to think of it as their way of being helpful.
Well today, I was in the “man room” with Brody, and Luke was in their bedroom. He was being quiet, and that should have been my first clue he was up to something. After a few minutes, he poked his head around the corner and said, “It’s a uh oh” with a worried look on his face. When I got to their room, the Champ was in the middle of the room with the plastic bag half ripped as if he had been trying to get into it. He looked at me again and said “uh-oh, cars.” He then pulled on the handle. Willing to play along, I opened the Champ only to find that there were at least nine cars in the stinkin’ pail! I can only imagine how long he had been playing this disappearing act with his cars.

Duct Tape and Pull Ups
No--it’s not what you think. Although, now that I think about it, the duct tape might be a good deterrent from them sticking their hands down their pants when they are poopy. It’s so nice of them to let me know they have pooped by showing me the prize. As soon as we get to Hawaii, the potty training will commence!
Last night as I was putting the boys in the bathtub, Brody quickly lifted up the toilet seat and flushed. What I didn’t realize at the time was that he also managed, without my seeing it, to put his Pull Up in the toilet between the lifting of the lid and the flushing. For future reference, it appears Pull Ups do not go down the drain when you flush the toilet. They do, however, swell up like a tick when they hit the water.
As for the duct tape--let’s just say that it is going to take more than that to keep Luke from accomplishing a task. Their bedroom has a room darkening shade. It’s the plain old pull up type shade with the wood stick in the bottom of it. Luke’s latest is that when he wakes up he feels it is necessary to remove the long wooden stick from the blind and use it as a sword. In an attempt to keep him from doing this, I put a piece of duct tape at the end of the shade, trying to keep him from being able to get to the wooden rod. Seems this is not a battle I am to win. He managed to pull off the duct tape and still access the coveted piece of wood.
Lord help me when they start coming up with ideas together!
